The first event put on by BUFA was on June 26, 2015 to Honor Black Farmers. Our featured speaker was Dr. Gail Myers, an anthropologist and food activist committed to honoring and remember the legacy of Black Farmers in America.
Our event was hosted at the Ag Center in Stockton, California and attended by 165 people. We honored legendary farmer and activist, Will Scott from Fresno, California and other local farmers including Sylvester, Mrs. Eric Holman. Mr. Clarence Van Hook from Guinda, California entertained us with guitar and several songs. Mr. Van Hook is owner of 219 acres and one of several Black land owners in Guinda.
